Additional Information about the TV Cartoon Gadget In Winterland (Video)

This is the original pilot episode. Gadget sports a big black mustache throughout. The mustache was removed when the series began production to avoid similarities with Inspector Clouseau.

This pilot episode has very different credits from the rest of the series.

In the first version of this cartoon, Gary Owens voiced Inspector Gadget using a deep, British-accented voice. Producers rejected this version out of hand. Jesse White was brought in to record a new voice track, effectively doing a copy of Don Adams' voice from "Get Smart." More what the producers were looking for, it was decided to not have an imitator do Adams' voice for the series, and Adams was hired for the remainder of the series.

Adams is said to have quit the series before the end of its run, which left the title character to be voiced by an actor who didn't sound at all like Adams.
