Production Notes:
The first cartoon from the newly organized Famous Studios. Fleischer Studios owed Paramount over $1 million from losses incurred in Gulliver's Travels and Mr. Bug Goes to Town, but it did not file for bankruptcy. Fleischer became Famous mainly due to a abrogation of the Fleischer contract with Paramount that caused it to demand the money back from its loan. Unable to pay, this gave Paramount rights to the Fleischer holdings, and basically is why the studio changed names with the brothers out.
The title song was reportedly written (words and music by James Cavanaugh, John Redmond and Nat Simon) and copyrighted three hours before Congress declared war on Japan. The lyrics are:
You're a sap, Mr. Jap, To make a Yankee cranky, You're a sap, Mr. Jap, Uncle Sam is gonna spanky...
Contains animation (themes, sequences or characters) which modern audiences may consider derogatory toward certain ethnic or religious groups.
