This TV series was originally scheduled to run for 26 30-minute episodes, each consisting of two cartoons. Two additional seasons have since been ordered. Season two will add 14 shows with 28 episodes, and season three another 12 shows with 24 episodes.
Digital 2D animation.
The series first aired as a sneak peek on January 7, 2011; the official premiere took place the following day during YTV's Crunch cartoon block, hosted by Andy.
Director Brad Ferguson worked on the cartoon for two years. "I came on board at the very beginning with the first storyboard for the first episode," he said.
The show is targeted at children between the ages of six and 11. "But we always try to reach that humor that also appeals to adults," Ferguson said. "I'm hoping we'll reach a much broader audience, kind of like the feel of The Muppets and the way it appealed to a wider audience."
Based on the quirky designs of Noah Z. Jones, this irreverent, fast-paced comedy featuring underwear-clad animals is set at the beachfront hotel The Banana Cabana. Led by Howie, its fun-loving, hospitality-challenged manager, The Banana Cabana is home to mayhem, destruction and general debauchery... mostly at the hands of Howie. But, he can't take all the credit. Surrounding Howie are his best friends and fellow employee: Octo, Bunny, Narwhal, Duck, Sloth and a holdover from the old regime, Piggy.
Of course, things aren't all fun and games at the hotel. Howie's overachieving sister Poodle, the manager of the ultra high-end Chateau Chattoo, is desperate to take over The Banana Cabana from her incompetent brother. Feeling it's one of the world's great injustices that Howie is running a hotel of any kind, Poodle makes it her mission to take The Banana Cabana away from Howie and his misfit friends.
