The Clue Club was a cartoon about four precocious young investigators who solved crimes with the help of two bloodhounds, Woofer and Whimper. Dotty was the little redhead who analyzed the data that the rest got from snooping around. Woofer was the older dog who always said how good he was and took all the credit after the case was solved. Whimper and Woofer had an inherent fear of the unknown provided most of the laughs in the show.
The show only had one year of first run episodes, after which it aired in repeats on Skatebirds under the new title Woofer and Whimper, Dog Detectives. These repeats were severely edited, which made the show particularly hard to follow.
After a year on Skatebirds, CBS reinstated the full episodes and re-ran them on Sundays under the original title. The show ran for another four months, canceled at the beginning of 1979.
