As of February 2010, this production looked to be canceled. When asked about Newt's status on The Animation Guild blog, Disney vet Floyd Norman replied, "Oh, and Newt is dead." No official comment yet, but don't hold your breath on this one.

On May 12, 2010, Disney archivist Dave Smith said in an e-mail that newt "has been cancelled." Hours earlier, news broke that the film had been removed from the latest supplement to Smith's Disney A to Z, an encyclopedia of all things Disney.
