Cartoon Summary:

This one should have had a Max Fleischer credit. This highly acclaimed Polish animation short has become one of the more celebrated 1960s works of European animation. The story depicts the battle between two colors as a bullfight with the brave matador (Red) fighting the imposing black bull for the hand of a fair maiden. Told on an ever- shifting canvas. Characters are depicted in fingerpainting-style color silhouettes. The duo battle in classic style until both become exhausted and the matador figures that the only way to beat the bull is to get him back in the ink jar (shades of Koko the Clown!). The film then takes on a decidedly "Duck Amuck" vibe as the characters enter the real world and carry on their battle. Nice shot of the animators at work and demanding that the characters get back in the film! We won't tell you who won, but animal activists will be cheering for this very Out of the Inkwell-inspired cartoon.
