Cartoon Summary:

When Caesar lands on the English- oh, sorry, Breton!- coast in a big deployment of force, he quickly obtains victory while being so boorish as to choose to attack during the sacrosanct weekend and at the no-less-respected time of five o'clock.

As in Gaul, there is only one place which resists: a small, isolated town whose chief, Zebigboss, sends a messenger, Jolitorax, to procure the famous magic potion from Astérix (a distant cousin) and Obélix (who's worried about perishing far from the "Roman legions").

During the crossing of the English Channel, he saves from pirates a Phoenician vessel whose occupants, in thanks, offer them a sachet containing a mysterious Oriental grass. The news of their arrival alerts the Romans. In Londinium (London), they confiscate barrels of wine originating from Gaul and, under the pretence of fixing the barrel containing the "magic potion," devote themselves to some serious boozing. Tired, weakened by Breton food (being unable to compare the roasted wild boar dear to Obélix and the boiled wild boar with mint sauce), the Gauls make off with the precious barrel. A race gets underway to retrieve it and, to win speed, the Romans decide annihilate the small Breton village. Idéfix takes the initiative of making himself scarce, while Obélix takes an involuntary detour through the jails of the Tower of Londinium.

All the team meet again in a game of memorable rugby that takes "magic" proportions, thanks to the potion of that name which, by chance, arrived at the playing field.

The recovered barrel is being transported toward the defiant town when a Roman catapult unfortunately hits its target, definitively deprives the group of its ultimate weapon...

Surrounded, the Bretons are ready to succumb when Panoramix, deprived of magic potion, conjures up a beverage with the aid of the herb offered by the Phoenicians. Only faith can save them. Persuaded to devour the the famous magic potion, the besieged folks rush on the Romans and crush them. Of course, the sachet contained (what did you think?) tea, which will forever remain the favorite drink of Bretons along the English Channel.

Returning to Gaul, the heroes re-encounter the pirates- who, this time, prefer to jump overboard into the sea than have a return match with the Gauls. A big banquet is offered to the heroes who reunite around a beautiful well-roasted wild boar...
