Cartoon Summary:

A man agitatedly snatches up a telephone and asks for any news. The connection is so bad that he cannot hear the response. He is obviously under great stress. The (live-action) harried businessman becomes frustrated during the phone call, and slams down the telephone on his desk. He then begins to doze off. In his head, a cartoon shows an ambulance speeding a sick telephone to a hospital. The doctor, with a beard that works like an elephant's trunk, examines the phone. "What's wrong with this chap?" asks the doctor, who then reads its diary. In the dream, the telephone begins to tell the doctor about all the ways in which it has been misused. The phone had a job in a real estate office, and its boss began to handle it very roughly. The boss attached a lighter to it, and it blew up. His cord tangled so it strangled him. His cord dangled in a puddle of water. Too many attachments were connected to him (how timely is that?). "At this rate, I won't last long!" the phone exclaims. The doctor rings a bell, and the telephone is back in service. The man is awakened from his cartoon dream by the ringing phone. He untwists the cord, and he hears that it's a boy. There's a very politically incorrect gag with a stereotyped African-American man.
