Anthony Flea, a little blue flea with a coonskin cap, is troubled by the postwar housing shortage. In search of "a home around the corner," he wanders along and finds a lonely horsefly. They gallop off to a house where they find an unnamed dog. They team up and set up housekeeping on a nearby dog. They wander into the dog's fur, and find signs saying "Indian Flea Territory: Paleface Fleas Keep Out." The flea and his horse(fly) settle down, chopping down some trees (giant dog hairs) to build a log cabin, attempting to dig a well with a pickaxe, all to the distress of the poor, put-upon pooch, who howls and reacts all the while. Indian (stereotype) Fleas attack the cabin, while the dog watches smoke signals from his fur. The flea and his horse(fly) fight back but soon have to flee (get it?). The dog sprinkles flea powder, but that just makes a snowy chase. They chase him around the dog's face while the dog watches. Finally, they catch him and try to burn him at the stake, but the dog leaps into a fountain and puts out the fire, and the flea escapes in a canoe. The insect and his trusty steed are joined on the dog by a traveling flea circus, seeking winter quarters. The circus beds down for the winter on the dog, and the Indians chase the flea into a circus act, while the dog watches, eating cotton candy.
