Cartoon Summary:

Fat Albert helps Richard overcome his fear of letting people know that he writes poetry, then reads one of Richard's poems at a school assembly. Meanwhile, the kids scrounge for money to buy band instruments, but they have to improvise when they realize how expensive musical instruments are. Out of bedsprings, broken radiators, an old garbage can, spoons, a washboard and an old Victrola horn, Fat Albert's Junk Yard Band is born.
