1942 - A Soldier's Perspective

Reviewed by: richardjf, June 05, 2004

Donaled gets Drafted, looks more like he enlists. The exam bit seemed good. Anyone was being accepted in the army, so Donald is tested by 'tell us what color this green card is' and 'tell us what color this red card is'.
"Blue," Donald says.
"Close enough."
Then we get Pete as the drill sargeant who tells Donald to stand to attention, no matter what.
Seems Donald is standing in an ant bed, and they are crawling all over him.
Typical tedious Disney humor, as Donald's tail acts as a windshield wiper to swish all the ants off, then an equally preposterous moment of a bead of perspiration rolling down Donald's forehead and the ant running from it.
In the end, Donald can take it no longer and loses it, shooting off his gun in the process.
He ends up having to peel all the potatoes, holding up a peel that says "phooey."
I suppose the average soldier could relate to Donald's inability to stand to attention, but it wasn't phenomenally done.
