Who could not love Shy Dog and Daisy. This was my favorite when I was little, such love! I actually went to a bomb factory once and got a tour (my friends father took us to a Chirstmas party for the workers kids) and it looked just like this. I looked for Daisy. Everyone remembers this cartoon.

But a moody classic from Freleng...the somber tone set by the early days of WWII,and the scrap drives inherent..the scenes of our lovable Hero running up and down the storage areas of the bomb factory shouting for his love..actually causes a tear or two to form...and Thank God Pinto Clovig had the restaint NOT to add TOO much of a 'Goofy' tone to our Hero! Another toon Not Just for Kids...

Ding Dog Daddy 10 out of 5 stars

I personally couldn't care less about Chuck Jones' "Feed the Kitty," which makes me puke and is every bit as manipulative as any Casper the Friendly GHost cartoon. THIS, however, is a genuine sobber. When the dog searches for his lady-love (an aluminum lady doberman who's about to be scrapped for the war effort), the strains of Beethoven's 5th add infinite dramatic punch to the sequence. Needless to say, I'm dewy-eyed at the end.
