Greedy Humpty Dumpty 6 out of 5 stars

This entry is similar in sentiment to THE LITTLE DUTCH MILL. Only this time we have a twist on Humpty Dumpty as a would be King Midas, with a tounch of The Tower of Babel. Humpty Dumpty is king of wealth, and while in his counting room, he looks to the sun and thinks there is gold in the sun. He orders his subjects to build the wall of his castle higher to reach the sky. In ture Fleischer tradition, an intricate contruction sequence evolves, showing the building of the wall with yellow bricks. Although Mother Goose warns Humpty Dumpty not to climb too high with the wall, "for the higher you go, the harder you'll fall." But his greed over comes his judgement, and not waiting for the morter to dry, he stands atop the tower and porducing an ax, chops into the sun, which sends flases of lightning out, one taking the form of a human spanking Humpty Dumpty. Another lightining flash strikes the wall like a jack hammer, and the wall starts swaying back and forth and falls apart in a huge rumble. As predicted, Humpty Dumpty hits the ground and breaks into pieces. Hands enter attempting to piece him together, as Humpty sings lamenting that he "climed to high to build my wall, but I was greedy and I had a big fall." HE then falls apart to the chorus singing the familiar nusery rhyme, "And all the kings horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty together again." Highly charming, imaginative, well animated, and entertaining.
