The Huckleberry Hound Show 6 out of 5 stars

Reviewed by: Ray Pointer, November 25, 2001

After discoving RUFF N' REDDY, the following Fall I was more dilighted about this new show with a circus motif sponsored by Kellogg's. It was a self-contained show that earn high sales returns for its sponsor and added to the prestige of the Leo Burnett Advertising Agency. The Huckleberry Hound Show originally consisted of three cartoon series, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, and Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinx. As Yogi Bear's popular-ity grew, he was given his own show in 1960. To fill the void on the Huckleberry Hound Show, Hokey Wolf was created. Yogi Bear was the only character given a spinoff from the Huck Hound Show. A certain incidental character, Iddy Biddy Buddy evolved into Yakky Doodle, who was a componant of the Yogi Bear Show. Snagglepuss, the other Yogi Bear componant, evolved from the QUICK DRAW MCGRAW Show a year later. These co-star characters remained as solo acts and never had shows of their own inspite of reports in a certain encyclopedia of cartoons.
