The only "Three Stooges" cartoon to feature Paul Frees' voice.
In the beginning sequence of a three-minute, live-action wraparound, Moe, Larry and Curly Joe are dressed in old army uniforms and say that they are reminiscing about their service in World War I. In the end sequence, the Stooges' old army sergeant (who says he is making up for the lunches that he used to steal from the boys) shows up and gives them a lunch pail which explodes when they open it up!
Plans to animate such other comedians as the Marx Brothers and Jack E. Leonard were shelved.
The release date for all 156 cartoons is considered fall 1965, as that is the delivery date by syndicators to the stations. According to an advance trade ad by Heritage Productions, the series was sold to 37 major markets in 30 days.
