Based on the song "Abdul Abulbul Amir," written by Percy French while a student at Trinity College, Dublin, in 1877. He wrote the song for a concert and sold it to a publisher for five pounds.

It is sad that this cartoon appears so rarely nowadays on TV and is so hard to get hold of.Based on the comic song by the Irish humorist Percy French it is a real treat.
