A "Foreword" to the cartoon reads: "The Wolf in this picture is NOT fictitious. Any similarity between this Wolf and that (*!!*~~~~~%) jerk Hitler is purely intentional."
This cartoon is notable for its unique opening title sequence. Unlike the typical opening with a single roar of the MGM lion, it includes four roars, sped up. Leo the Lion roars in sync with Scott Bradley's rendition of "Hold That Tiger." This was accomplished via use of an optical printer that re-ran, backwards and forwards, the same few frames of Leo cocking his head to one side as he roars.
The British Film Institute warns that "the film's unfortunate, premonitory bombing of Japan makes for some uncomfortable viewing."
