Cartoon Production Information:
The New Fred and Barney Show put the Flintstone and Rubble offspring back where they began, as adorable babies. In fact, aside from the slightly altered animation and Fred's new voice (Alan Reed had passed away in 1977), The New Fred and Barney Show felt a lot more like the original Flintstones show than any other incarnation. Fred still dreamed up zany schemes, Barney still went along and Wilma and Betty still came to the rescue when the schemes backfired.
Even still, The New Fred and Barney Show was still clearly a child of the 70's. In addition to the Scooby-Doo-esque adventures with witches and werewolves, the show spoofed such contemporary fads as C.B. radio and the physical fitness craze.
Ten new episodes of The New Fred and Barney Show mixed with 13 classic Flintstones episodes to fill out the early 1979 show. That fall, the gang had a brand new companion segment, The Thing. The new Fred and Barney Meet The Thing show showcased seven brand-new Fred and Barney episodes, along with the adventures of rocky orange Fantastic Four strongman The Thing (with a very different origin story).
In December of that year, yet another classic character joined the show, forming the 90-minute Fred and Barney Meet The Shmoo. The unlikely cartoon threesome banded together through the end of 1980, when the entire show was overhauled into another 90-minute extravaganza, The Flintstones Comedy Show.
The layout artist identified as "Jose Rivera in the credits probably is Tony Rivera. The animators identified as "Tony Hutten" and "William Lokey" probably are Bill Hutten and Hicks Lokey, respectively.
When this show was originally on NBC from February to September 1979, was the ending Hanna-Barbera logo the "Rainbow Hanna-Barbera" (1978 version, smaller Hanna-Barbera logo as opposed to the original 1974 version in which said logo was larger).
When this show became part of the Fred and Barney Meet The Thing hour-long block starting September 22, 1979, were these particular credits combined with the production credits related to Hanna-Barbera's The Thing as a single sequence?
