Cartoon Production Information:

It seems like Batman and Robin have been around—in one incarnation or another—forever. From the serials of the 40's (featuring a Batman with droopy ears and an aging Boy Wonder) to the 90's Batman: The Animated Series, the Caped Crusader has been fighting crime in both television and movies on and off since the late Bob Kane created him in 1939.

This particular version featured Adam West and Burt Ward reprising their roles as Batman and Robin from the 60's live-action Batman series, albeit in voice form. There was no Alfred the butler in this version-instead, the Dynamic Duo were joined by Batgirl and a spritelike midget alien called Batmite, who provided comic relief.

This show only ran one season under the name The New Adventures of Batman; in the fall of 1977 it became The Batman/Tarzan Adventure Hour, and after one more year, Batman became just one of the elements of Tarzan and the Super 7.

This ran until 1980 when Batman, who was used to having his name in the title of his shows, negotiated out of his contract with CBS and bolted for NBC. Taking Robin, Batgirl, and Batmite with him, he starred in Batman and the Super Seven, which aired for one season.

The Riddler was the only Batvillain not used on this series, since Hanna-Barbera already had him grabbed up for the impending Challenge Of The Superfriends.

Also, note that Robin's costume now features a black "R" on a yellow circle instead of the usual yellow "R" on a black circle.

Traditional, Hand-drawn Animation.

Comments By:
This is probably my favorite episode. It's the one I remember most from watching it as a kid. I always thought having Batman and Robin being only three inches high was a great idea for a story. However, what I don't get is how they made it back to...  (read more)
