The second in the series of Peanuts animated features, and the last to be distributed by National General Pictures. First broadcast on TV Friday, November 5, 1976 as a CBS Special Film Presentation.

One of the guests at Snoopy's goodbye party has the number five on his shirt. This is probably supposed to be 5, an easily forgotten character from the Peanuts strip whose whole family had numbers for names. His full name is 5 95472 (the accent is on the 4).

This was the only time the words "Charlie Brown" weren't included in the title.

The Title was inspired by another movie featuring a famous canine: the 1943 MGM classic Lassie Come Home.

Three years after the ill-fated A Boy Named Charlie Brown (1969), Charles M. Schulz, creator of the Peanuts strip went through a divorce around 1972 when this film was released and I wonder how much it colored Schulz while making this dark little...  (read more)

It was 1984 when I first saw this Peanuts film aired on Showtime Family Theater. Charles Schulz's Peanuts have been a favorite of mine for years! I grew up on his comic strips & cartoons. I cried when I first saw this one! Have it on video somewhere...  (read more)
