Cartoon Production Information:
In this episode, When Shaggy is trying to get a elephant head off of himself, he sees the mysterious person in a black hood and purple cloak in a Indian teepee and says "Jinkies," which is Velma's signature catchphrase.
The first New Scooby-Doo Movie to use the submain title theme from Scooby Doo, Where Are You!; this cue would be used throughout the remainder of the first season.
Hanna Barbera's first use of DC superheroes. An earlier Batman series using the same voices (Olan Soulé as Batman, Casey Casem as Robin, and Ted Knight as Joker and Penguin) was produced by rival studio Filmation Associates, along with most of the other heroes who would become the Super Friends. The following year, Hanna Barbera would produce its first Super Friends show, with a teen boy, girl and dog team very similar to Shaggy, Scooby and Velma, and hour-long plots very similar to this one. The series would run, with various changes, through 1985 on ABC.
The infamous farmhouse was actually reused from "Mine Your Own Business", where it was the "Gold City Guest Ranch". Look for it briefly in the beginning of that episode.
A new Batmobile is fashioned for The Dynamic Duo, patterned loosely after George Barris' remodeled Ford Futura on the 1966-68 ABC live-action, primetime Batman series. This would also be adapted into Super Friends as well.
Velma and Batman's discussion of how counterfeiting "will undermine the national economy", and that "for the sake of our world's stability, we must capture this crook here and now" was edited out of the version Cartoon Network has been showing to make room for a cartoon short ("Toon Extra!") at the end of the show.
The following snippets from this episode can be seen in the opening titles:
- Scooby riding and spinning around in a toy car and he crashes into toys.
