MPT Coverage: What a Night for a Knight 5 out of 5 stars

Reviewed by: MattPriceTime, April 01, 2012

As i start my coverage on this site about my beloved library of HB cartoons, i figured there is no better one to start with then "What A Night for a Knight"

I remember first seeing this along with a lot of the early Scooby episodes way earlier in my life. I always remembered this one as being the first and one that always stood out in my mind. The Black Knight ghost haunting the museum. The memorable scenes of the knight rising up and of coarse the big reveal with the unmasking. This one holds good memories for me by the name,

The Premise is the scooby formula being thrown at us for the first time. Pretty cool setting of a knight coming alive when the moon is full haunting a museum. I like museum settings and this one sells me still as a good idea.

This one naturally has our scooby gang in their earliest forms. They are good as they will always be. I do notice the mention Shaggy is one of the best gymnasts in school here, not too sure how well that will be followed up on in the future. The Black Knight serves as an awesome villain who will set a good role to follow among Scooby villains, the rest of the characters are basic fodder to fill out a scooby plot though

Hitting the last stop on my coverage, the rewatchability. I have seen this episode countless times in my life, and whenever it comes back up on my schedule i'm happy to see it. It reminds me of how Scooby got started. The opening scenes are quite memorable after years of seeing it. The Black Knight if a cool ghost, and the humor is all still in tact.

If i have to bestow a rating on this episode i give it 10/10 A

Scooby-Doo cartoons 5 out of 5 stars

Reviewed by: Anonymous Cartoon Lover, September 19, 2010

i really love being able to watch these old cartoons again. The subtitles are really annoying and I'm disappointed that there seems to be no way to remove them. Also the pixelation could use some work but like most old things thats understandable, almost expected. However Scooby doo cartoons are a classic that i'm very happy i've been able to find a place to view them once again.

Great Fun! This being the first televised
episode of what would become a much beloved and long lived animated feature, is indicative of why it lasted so long. Scooby, the dog is adorable and adds the perfect comic relief to the gang's adventures into some frightening places. Great animation and a nice spectrum of personalities among the group; handsome and level-headed Freddy, pretty and sensitive Daphne, brainy Velma, spaced out Shaggy and goofy, "scaredy cat" Scooby. Hanna and Barbera at their best.
