Cartoon Comments:

Nice Harman Ising production 6 out of 5 stars

To correct the one reviewer, he was watching To Spring and not Blue Danube. But they are similar in some ways. Both feature mystical elements bringing color to nature. In this cartoon, the animals bring the blue to the Danube by crushing grapes and emptying the juice into the river. In To Spring, elves mine the colors for spring from rocks and smelt them down into bubbling cauldrons. Like other Harman Ising cartoons, there is little real story but lush animation with rich colors. Great eye candy.

The Blue Danube 6 out of 5 stars

Reviewed by: b6b, June 18, 2002

I saw "The Blue Danube" only once, and years ago, but remember it as the story of underground elves who wake in winter and, through a sort of essembly line, create spring. There is little or no dialogue in the cartoon, and it is set to 'The Blue Danube' music from Strauss. The cartoon is remarkably charming and it has always stood out in my memory.
