Merrie Melody No. 6, 1931 8 out of 5 stars

Departure to non-character stories begins here...

Not a "classic" short, per se, but it is notable for being the first Merrie Melody to depart from any starring character and present done-in-one stories. Another amusing trifle from the time period has an elderly toymaker leaving his new red-headed girl doll to be danced with a by a toy Napoleon soldier (ironically, the hero) and a sinister spider (kinda gross actually). The toys seem to be having a great time and the style of Merrie Melodies of this time really are a lot of fun.
