Another Roger Rabbit wannabe

Reviewed by: FireballXL6, October 11, 2007

Ever since the success of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", there have been many studios trying their hand at live-action/animation hybrids. Universal came late compared with how fast "Cool World" and "Space Jam" came out, but this one went wrong for two completely different reasons.

Unlike "Space Jam", this film had a decent storyline that probably would have worked if given time, but where the film went wrong is plain for all to see. In the first place, the humour is evidently more adult than the original series. Not necessarily adult in the sense of "Fritz the Cat", but I personally think that sexual innuendo has no place in a children's film.

And now, the second part that will no doubt bring in a lot of criticism. The film failed to attract a lot of attention because of the cartoon they chose. Being British, I wouldn't know about Rocky and Bullwinkle unless I typed it into Wikipedia. The film appeals only to an American audience, and any international audiences will be left in the dark about what to expect of the film.

Compared to "Space Jam", this film did quite well, but not well enough.

This movie was terrible, give me back the classic Bullwinkle of the sixties anyday of the week.
