A study in personality

By
1943's "Room and Bored" is one of the best Fox and Crow cartoons, largely because of how director Wickersham manages the very different personalities of both characters so effectively. The Fox is a very proper and very refined gentleman, hoping for a tenant with the same attributes. What he gets is something completely different: the cigar-chomping, street-wise Crow who at times seems determined to annoy the heck outta "ol' Foxie." "I hate you! Hate you! Hate YOU," the Fox screams. "Well," responds the Crow, "you ain't da apple of my eye edder, bud!" Perhaps the best and funniest part of the film is the ending when the Fox goes completely insane, a psychological deterioration that is only heightened by the excellent voice work of Frank Graham. "Blizzard?! In July?! No! I must be losing my mind! I'M GOING MAD! No, I'm not going mad!"
