Mild by today's standards

I doubt the previous veiwer has even seen this film. I have a copy. The "internal workings" of the female body are depicted in the sparsest terms possible with simple, monchromatic graphics. No blood or gore here. No dialogue, jsut a dry, matronly narration. Only the novelty of a Disney film on meses keeps you from falling asleep. the wierdest thing is the "baby" in the opening: it has an infant's body, but the face of an adult woman. Creepy.

The Story of Menstruation

Although "The Story of Menstruation" is a riveting and compelling film, filled with passion, pathos and a subtle humor that almost anyone would appreciate. It's message is spotty and stained with inexperenced masculine writing and juvenille depictions. It's tone quite heavy at times and often cry's out for someone to plug it's glaring inadequacies. Poignant and heart warming by design, its message still rings true with a lust and excitement seldom seen in modern filmmaking. However, due to the time period of it's production (1946) and it's sometimes graphic depection of underage girls in compromising situations, "The Story of Menstruation" may be considered offensive by today's modern and foward thinking ideology. A caution to parents. Although unrated "The Story of Menustration has moments of graphic depictions of blood and startling gore. Therefore,it may not be suitable for young children. Parental guidance is strongly advised. Wally Cox Dec 30, 2001
