David Raksin composed and conducted an original score for GIDDYAP. A recording is to be found on the LP-album that goes with the Library of Congres book WONDERFUL INVENTIONS (edited by Iris Newsom). The score is called FOOTLOOSE AND FANCY FREE OR WHAT KILLED VAUDEVILLE. It is an absolutely sublime little score, written with rare inventivity, inspiration and craftsmanship, and such a sense of humor that it surpasses many 'similar' works in the jolly style of the Groupe des Six that seem to have inspired it. It sounds so timeless and contemporary at the same moment that it it is overwhelming in its not-meaning-to-be. "
