I saw the 50 foot B&W version of this cartoon every Christmas for my first ten years of life. The short version was called "Mickey's Lucky Break." It was a good Christmas film depicting the bleak times during the Depression.
The full-length version shows that Mickey, even being destitute himself, sells Pluto in order to provide Christmas gifts for a family less fortunate.
