The Screwy Truant

Mild for Tex Avery, but still enjoyable!

Being a Slappy Squirrel "nut", I made it my goal to try and watch a Screwy Squirrel cartoon and see where Slappy's origins lay. This was my first Screwy cartoon, and I loved it!

Although rather mild compared to Avery's masterpiece "Red Hot Riding Hood", I still enjoyed how he could take a simple story about someone being off school for some reason and changing it into a zany, over-the-top comedy show with his attempts to push cartoon physics to their very limit.

A great big well done to all involved!

The gag with the multiple doors is enough to give this cartoon a perfect five. Tex is truly the KING!!
