Don Knotts comes to cartoonland in this engaging f

In this wonderful combination of

live action and animated musical

Don Knotts plays a bumbling,put

upon bookeeper and henpecked husband

in WWII era NYC.

Who is unsuccessful in enlisting

into the military and he is more

unsuccessful in dealing with his

controling and flirtacious wife

Mr.Henry Limpet's(Mr.Knott's)

only escape from his unhappy surroundings

is studying evolution and wishing that he

could be a fish.

When his wife(Carole Cook)and their

friend Naval machinist mate George Stickle

(Jack Weston)take the relunctant little man

on a trek to Coney Island?

Limpet falls into the sea and thru

animation is turned into a talking

From here..the story tells of

the finney fellow's efforts to help

Navel Capt.Harlock(Andrew Duggan)

and Stickle(Weston)in seeking out

Nazti UBoats and destroying them

before they can hamper the war.

Knott's character also finds

a true soul mate in Ladyfish(Elizabeth

Allen)and becomes friendly with a

grouchey character Crusty(played by

vetrain cartoon vo performer Paul

The film may not be in the

Disney still have laughs,

charm,wamrth and some wonderful

And a funny and sweet performance

by The Late Don Knotts.

I was first introduced to this

film at The Castle Hill Movie theater

in the Bronx,NYC back in the summer

of 1964.

And to this day..I'm still enchanted

by The Incredible Mr.Limpet.

This has been my favorite cartoon since I was a kid. More than it's visual, it's message to follow your heart and your own destiny, to try to become more than you even think you can be, is uplifting. My vote for the best cartoon ever would go to this picture.
