SUPERMAN'S X-RAY VISION REVEALED
Sucha headline is befitting of the series using a newspaper as a cover for the first of the great superheroes. MECHANICAL MONSTERS is the second in the series, and one of my favorites on several levels. First, it is one of the pest drawn, with an improved Lois Lane over her screen debut. Second, the scientist is very well executed in terms of drawing and definition of character. In addition, this cartoon introduced two of the Superman elements, the phone booth transformation and his X-ray vision. Even with a couple of camera mistakes that still exist in the prints, it's still a great action/adventure cartoon.
The firery dungeon when Lois is suspended over a vat of molten steel makes me want to open a window and get a drink of water.
