This was another excellent musical Popeye short. If I had to choose between Popeye and Bluto as a life guard, I would choose Popeye, unless I wanted a “singing” life guard, and not many places want one of those.
Popeye may not have kept up on all the latest bathing suit fashions, but he would make an excellent life guard. Besides, he is the only person I have ever seen who can get out of a pool by using the water as a spring board.

This cartoon is visually stunning, one of the most enjoyable Popeyes I have seen. The animators make brilliant use of multiplane cameras and there are a few scenes that seem to transcend that technology, though I'm not sure how... highly recommended!
