Cartoon Charlie
This is in response to Charlie's review of Mother Goose in Swingtime by his friend, Albert, who also is a fan of great animation. Here are Albert's comments:Of course "Mother Goose in Swingtime" is not the only cartoon that caricatured famous movie stars of the 1930s.
I saw a rather amusing Donald Duck short that featured caricatures of Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Mickey Rooney, the Ritz brothers, the Marx brothers, Sonja Henie, and Shirley Temple among others.
In this short, Donald Duck is an autograph hound trying to get autographs of the major film stars of the 30s. Initially the actors are rather coyish or play "hard to get" with the exception of Shirley Temple. Miss Temple, however, wants something in exchange. She wants Donald's autograph. When she exclaims that she has Donald's "ALL" the major movie stars in Hollywood go crazy and inundate poor Donald with books seeking his autograph.
All in all, a very amusing short put out by the Disney studio.

One of the best Donald Cartoons I've seen. Very funny and ripe with parody.
