Amateur-House and Unfinished Promise

Posted: February 10, 2010

Even a hobo could've animated this one better...

The concept of this Bosko short, his fifth and final for the year 1930, is solid: Bosko is travelling by Box Car as a Musical Hobo when the mountainous climb of the train (shown wonderfully in anthropomorphic agony by the engine) causes his section to become detached and all manner of chaos ensues. The "smash-the-animal-into-a-wall-and-have-them-bounc-back-as-an-accordion" is on display here, the music is nice and some of the gags are amusing but overall is falls far short for having unfinished animation and an amateurish quality as a byproduct. Disappointing when potential goes so far unfulfilled.
