Another Fine Performance By Mel Blanc
I loved this cartoon as a kid & always looked forward to it coming on Sunday mornings. The scene where the desk clerk falls down the long staircase is hilarious. Once again the voice talents of Mel Blanc reign supreme in this cartoon. Kudos also to Frank Tashlin, Phil Monroe & Melvin Millar for direction, animation & story respectively. And rememember OOOCH OUCH OOOCH OUCH OOOCH OUCH OOOO!

Art Deco Masterpiece
My hero-!! Frank Tashlin, the most underrated director in the WB brain trust, achieved his Personal Best with this cartoon--the scene in which Daffy pushes his head through the Desk Clerk's face stands alone in the annals of animation--jeez, it's incredible, and especially with Stalling's rumbling tympany drums building up the tension--and the exaggerated perspective, clean lines and economy of backgrounds adds importance to the characters. I have always admired Tashlin's Daffy over all other versions--he had a nearly geometric feel, and he seemed more energetic and brainlessly crazy to me (check out Scrap Happy Daffy). Tash and Clampitt were the guys who made Daffy great.
