It is sad that this cartoon appears so rarely nowadays on TV and is so hard to get hold of.Based on the comic song by the Irish humorist Percy French it is a real treat.
Perhaps the reason for this censorship is that it might cause anger in the way it deals with the Russian and in particular the Arab characters in such a stereotyped way.But why not!!!
Orwell was right that every joke is a small revolution. Perhaps if people could laugh at themselves more there would be more rather than less tolerance in the world.So the day this cartoon is shown in Tehran or Baghdad we shall know that better times are here.
