I hate Tom's master! Hate, *hate*, HATE him. I felt better when it was Spike using Tom as a punching bag, because hey, Spike's a dog. And you could still laugh at those poundings... somehow they were still funny.
I have found absolutely nothing funny about how this guy treats Tom. There's just something about his mannerisms. He spoils any Deitch cartoon he appears in.

These early-60s Tom and Jerrys, done at Gene Deitch's studio in Czechoslovakia, are just as rotten as the Chuck Jones series that followed; but there's some comedy of the purely UNINTENTIONAL sort, in the jerky movements and the simply-bizarre sound effects.
Deitch was one of the new breed of "thoughtful," "sensitive," "non-aggressive" cartoonists whose style just didn't fit this.
