This has got to be one of the worst Tom & Jerry shorts. Bad animation & weird story. Gene's T&J shorts are much better than Chuck's though!

The good thing about the Gene Deitch Tom & Jerry series is that they tug at my heartstrings. The bad thing is that they tug at my heartstrings-- a lot of times disturbingly so. This episode has a little bit of good and bad.
Glad to see no sign of the rat b*st*rd master, but I really don't think they needed to drag out the boiling water scene as much as they did-- Tom sounded so piteous that I was crying right along with him.
However, after this excruciating scene things got better, with more slapstick and goofy stuff like getting caught in the hose. The very end, when the bird pastes an air-mail sticker on Tom, is really cute.
