The Lord Of The Rings (1978) Feature Length Theatrical Animated Film

This was a good movie. I actually saw it years before I read the book, and enjoyed it much, much more. There are those who enjoy literature, and those who prefer film. They each have their benefits and deficiencies, but this is one case where film definitely wins out. I can't say it was perfect, but I would indeed recommend watching it. As a director, Ralph Bakshi had quite an affinity for animating things that one may consider perverse or grotesque, but this is one production in which he truly uses that to the advantage of the story. This movie may not be appropriate for very young viewers, but for perhaps ages 11 and up, conservatively, this is a worthwhile film.
