Mighty Mouse And The Pirates is a fun cartoon, a shipload of cat pirates capture a Dorothy Lomour like girl mouse on an island paradise. Mighty Mouse, dresses in trunks and cape beats his chest and yells Tarzan style before going into action. There are all sorts of sight gags going on: The pirates use their peg legs as cannon. They have a giant "Paris gun" on deck (which MM ties into knots. The captain's design was also used for Captain Kid in H&J's Pirate's Gold 12 years later. Don't expect an opera singing Mighty Mouse, since this was several years before that was added, but this was Terrytoons at their best production values. Don't be put off by stories of their cheapness compared to other studios. The bottom line is, The theatrical Terrytoons were never as cheap as tv animation got.
