Probably one of the MODEL Popeye cartoons--one that perfectly illustrates how he became an American Folk-Hero. Bluto threatens Wimpy's hurdy-gurdy trade, destroying the instrument itself (an absolutely HORRIFYING moment!). When Popeye's taken enough physical abuse (from the start he vows to protect Wimpy, who gets some lumps himself beforehand), the ubiquitous SPINACH turns things around......Bluto ends up as the innards of a player-piano, a completely satisfying and hilarious moment.
This short has the bonus of some PRIZE-WINNING ad libs: when Olive gives a coin to Wimpy's monkey, she mutters, "Oh, what a cute face....looks just like ma Aunt Minnie!"
