Sterotypical images aside, a bright and funny, no-malice intended short. The character design is slick and easily readable like all Fleischer work and the spare sets are really beautiful to look at as detailing held over from their silent days. The song itself is a pop song from 1910 written by William Jerome ("The Green Grass Grew All Around") and Jean Schwartz that is not offensive at all, but rather a sentimental little refrain that uses Chinese musical forms to influence it's melody purely as a novelty. The song became a jazz standard.
