Has G.B. seen the same cartoon I have. This is a great one on many levels. First, it has a wonderful song, even if it is recycled from CHRISTMAS COMES BUT ONCE A YEAR. This cartoon displays a gentle and kind aspect of Popeye. A rare moment of sympathy.
True to form, all the Fleischer cartoons had great dance sequences. This is another. The sotry does go somewhere. Grandma, who otherwise would have been left home on New Year's Eve becomes Popeye's dance partner, and with just the help of a little the Spinach, she takes off, showing that there's life in the old girl yet. As a result, Popeye and Grandma
win the Dance Trophy and dance forward to camera as they ring in the New Year. How can you say that is a story that goes nowhere?
