Betty Boop's Hallowe'en Party

Wicked Good Time!

Here's a seasonal episode from the great era of Fleischer Booping. Betty invites animal pals from her neighborhood to a spooky party. Sight gags based on classic Halloween iconography abound here, from clouds that transform into cats and bats as they pass over a silvery moon, to black paint that creates coookie-cutter witch and cat shapes as its splashed onto a wall. The animating set-piece of this reel is of the neighborhood scarecrow making its way to Betty's house, constantly stooping to pull up the trousers that slide off of his broomstick body. Betty's in her sexy garters, and pointedly thrusts her tush out at the audience on a number of occasionas -- back in happier times this raised smiles rather than stern Ashcroftian grimaces.
