Simply the Best

This is the best Popeye cartoon I ever saw.
Best music, best gags, but, unfortunately, virtually impossible to find.

Music and great animation (check out the scene where Popeye does his spinach-powered samba) make this a must see cartoon. The opening sequence features a catchy tune and laughs as a parrot is mistaken for a banana. Bluto's singing voice is a smooth baritone, reminding one of singers like Gordon MacRae, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, etc. Olive sings a rousing number about everybody doing the samba, backed by an animated orchestra. Someone other than Mae Questel voices her. And in this cartoon, she only has eyes for Popeye. They do a fast and furious dance together at the end of the cartoon that leaves them wearing each others' clothes! "

Iambeastmaster

This has always been MY favorite Popeye cartoon. Mostly it is because of the lively music. Ialso enjoyed the opening scenes when Popeye was trying to eat a banana, and wound up with a parrot.
Ialso have to agree that Bluto does indeed have a fine singing voice.
