This era of the Popeye shorts, probably has some of the best musical scores that I've heard. I remember watching this episode with my college housemates in the mid-seventies and we were all Blown away with the great jazz tunes. Check it out if you have the opportunity.

One of the greatest musical cartoons of all time, and also one of the most unheralded. Winston Sharples tops himself for all time with his score (at least I'm ASSUMING it's him; he was Famous Studio's resident composer at this time, and the jazzy whirlwind here has all the earmarks of his style).
WELL DONE, FAMOUS STUDIOS GUYS!! If these folks had done as well as this one, their product today could still be as acclaimed as the Fleischers' work--in fact, I'm willing to bet this was a story left over from the end of the Fleischer era.

The brushing the teeth on the mirror gag was first used in the Fleischer Color Classic, THE KIDS IN THE SHOE (1934), and repeated in the remake RHYTHUM IN RIOT.
