Brutus is so heartbroken that his sobbing is causing the jello molds to quiver in the plate until it shatters the glass dish.
The object of Brutus' affection is Cleo, a lioness at the zoo who plays hard to get. When Happy Holiday breaks a date with Groovia to help out Brutus, Groovia gets made, then Groovia decides to surprise Happy and overhears Precocia trying to set up a date between Brutus and Cleo at the zoo, and mistakenly believes Precocia is doing it for Happy!
Happy is so heart broken he decides to join the foreign legion, but actually he rents a costume to simply trick Groovia into thinking he joined. Unfortunately, the rental runs out and the costume is taken back before the joke is over. Now Groovia is madder than ever.
Brutus tries to use the foreign legion costume on Cleo, but it doesn't work either.
So Happy goes to a computer dating service and learns Groovia is his ideal mate. At the same time, Groovia went but finds the son of the man who owns the dating service, Mark Antipathy, smitten with her, so he substitutes his picture when Happy's comes out.
Then Happy accidentally hits Mark with the door when Groovia was trying to get away from him and Groovia accuses Happy of looking for another girl already and agrees to go on the date with Mark.
Brutus sabotages the record player during their date and Mark is hurled into a garbage can. Precocia finds the picture of Happy in the reject bin and Groovia realizes she and Happy are meant for one another.
But who was Cleo, Groovia asks. They show her and Brutus and Cleo live happily ever after.
