Little Swee' Pea 2 out of 5 stars

A Stressful Day at the Zoo

Reviewed by: TJStL2004, January 19, 2004

Popeye wanted Olive Oyl to go to the zoo with him, but instead, Popeye got stuck with the Devil's favorite baby, Swee'Pea. In this soap opera of a cartoon, Swee'Pea was playing with elephants, alligators, hippos and a leopard. But, when Popeye said "If you wants to play with aminals, play with this", Swee'Pea was shown a little harmless toy monkey that scared him, and made the little Baby Swee'Pea cry. Popeye should have slapped him silly. Just one monkey ruined Swee'Pea's career. Swee'Pea went on to become my least favorite cartoon character ever. I HATE HIM AS MUCH AS I HATE SADAAM AND OSAMA! SWEE'PEA IS A DISGRACE TO ALL CARTOON CHARACTERS! I would put that baby in the Cartoon Characters' Hall-Of-Shame (or Hall-Of-Infamy).

Little Swee' Pea 10 out of 5 stars

Hey, how come the Famous Studios people dropped Swee'pea from the Popeye series???
Hilarious & inventive--this film & "Lost & Foundling" are the perfect examples of an innocent infant getting into life-threatening situations, and his guardian getting the worst of it.

TERRIFIC, terrific. This and "Lost and Foundry" are the perfect examples of an innocent infant narrowly escaping life-threatening situations, and his guardian getting the worst of it.
I should add, too, that Swee'pea was a far better son to Popeye than that "son" Hanna-Barbera gave him & Olive after they had the couple marry!
